The SLO Friends of the Library organization is always looking for volunteers in two major areas:

Board Member – work with other members of the Friends of the Library board to set direction and priorities, manage projects / programs and help increase membership, donations and volunteering. Expect to meet at least once per month with the board and with committees and commit to an additional several hours per month.
Program / Project Manager / Coordinator – Take responsibility of one of the Friends of the Library programs / projects or areas of interest. Work with other managers, board members and project volunteers to accomplish the goals set by the board. Programs / projects might include a fund raising event, a membership campaign, a donation drive, a functional area of responsibility such as publicity, etc. or a task like maintaining a library of books at a homeless shelter, indexing and sorting books for our Annual Book Sale or organizing a luncheon for the Friends of the Library members. Commit enough time to make the program/project successful.
Program / Project Member – Assist on a program/project to accomplish the goals of the project / program in coordination with the manager and other volunteers. Commit your time with the program/project manager.
Commit to a schedule with the Library Volunteer Coordinator. Tasks/roles may include:
- Re-Shelving Books and media
- Providing support to Computer Users
- Teaching classes
- Helping with craft projects
- Cleaning shelves and books
- Self Checkout helper
- Computer Lab attendant
- Book mending
